The Art of Eating – The Village Feast in Davis’ Central Park

Lunch? Over the years in Provence, France the menu for the Grande Aioli, a traditional communal celebration of the end of summer, has remained the same. You can taste it in Davis, September 29, 1-4 PM at Davis Central Park.  Join 350 people from Davis and surrounding towns, around one large table under the shade of the Sycamore trees to feast on The Grande Aioli. The event is a part of the Sacramento region’s September Farm to Fork month celebration.

This beloved celebration of local food, wine and friends, family and neighbors was created to bring the romance of Provence to Yolo County, which shares a similar climate and terrain. We’re delighted that Georgeanne Brennan, an authority on the Grande Aioli and Yolo County resident, will be with us for the Village Feast. more

Welcome To Beertopia

canstockphoto25522982 (2)With a half-dozen microbreweries producing insanely good craft beers—Eye of the Lager, anyone?—Yolo County is becoming one of California’s capitals of beer touring

“Beer,” Trent Yackzan says, “is an emotional beverage.”

Yackzan is sipping one of his beers at his Sudwerk Brewing Company in Davis. And it only takes one sip of Sudwerk’s Cascaderade IPA or Big DIPL to realize that he is right. Beer is an emotional beverage, and the emotions it stirs most strongly are happy ones. Joy, exhilaration, delight —it would take a million emoji’s to fully express the pleasure you feel when drinking a really good glass of beer. more

Music Impresario Danny Tomasello

DavisMusicFestThe people of Davis have always been doers and makers.  To see that, all you have to do is look around at the colorful local shops and murals downtown or overhear the kaleidoscope of conversations at any one of its 35-plus cafes. Artists thrive in Davis. And, historically, so has live music. Davis is the original home of the famed Palms Playhouse (now in Winters) and alumni still tell stories of the hard-to-believe bands that used to play at the old campus Coffeehouse, which is once again hosting bands. Elvis Costello, The Police and Emmylou Harris have played there, among others. more
