Spend a Summer Evening at a Yolo County Winery

It may be August, but there’s still plenty of time left to enjoy summer in Yolo County. In fact, sipping a glass of wine while watching the sun go down is one of the best ways to spend a late-summer evening. Many wineries in Yolo County offer extended hours this time of year, along with live music and food, so you can take in every last second of summer. Following are some options.

 

Turkovich Family Wines | Winters

Located in downtown Winters, Turkovich Family Wines is open late every day of the week! Reservations are suggested, though not required. They offer tastings and flights, as well as gourmet picnic items from their deli case. If you’re there on a Friday, you can take advantage of Music on Main, and hear live tunes from local performers.

 

Berryessa Gap Winery | Winters

Close to Turkovich in downtown Winters, Berryessa Gap Winery also has front-row access to Music on Main on Friday nights. They’re open until 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday in the summer, and they offer a selection of traditional Spanish tapas. Their nearby estate winery has stunning views of the Yolo countryside and is open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays.

 

Delta Nights | Heringer Estates

Heringer Estates in Clarksburg hosts Delta Nights on select nights throughout the summer and fall, featuring live music by local acts and wines by the glass. Events are free but reservations must be made in advance. They also have extended hours on some weekend nights; check their event calendar for dates.

 

Music in the Park | Grindstone Wines

Every Fourth Friday through October, Grindstone Wines in Esparto is hosting a live music series at its estate in Esparto. Beginning at 6 p.m., you can enjoy live music from local artists, sip local wine (or beer), and indulge in food from onsite food trucks. The events are family-friendly so you can bring the whole gang!

 

Thursday Evenings at the Old Sugar Mill

The Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg stays open late every second Thursday through September for a relaxing evening of wine tasting, live music and food trucks. The last two nights of the season will be Aug. 10 and Sept. 14 from 5–8 p.m. Taste from among 14 onsite wineries and take in the views of the surrounding vineyards and the scenic Delta countryside!

 

Friday Alfresco | Bogle Family Vineyards

Bogle Family Vineyards in Clarksburg is hosting its Friday Alfresco series through August. Cool off with the Delta breeze as you sip a glass of wine, enjoy live music and munch on food from the onsite food trucks. The family-friendly events will be held Aug. 11, Aug. 18 and Aug. 25 from 5–8:30 p.m. and tickets must be purchased in advance. Check their event page for more details.

 

Acoustic Friday | Matchbook Wine Company

Rolling vineyards fronting the scenic Dunnigan Hills set the backdrop for this mellow evening event at Matchbook Wine Company in Zamora. Held 4– 8 p.m. select Fridays through September, they feature live acoustic music, food trucks and of course, great wine. They also offer live music and food trucks on Saturday nights as well. Summer Under the Stars | Miner’s Leap Winery

Enjoy live music and great wine under the stars at Miner’s Leap Winery in Clarksburg. Held 6:30–9:30 p.m. Saturdays through September, the open-air concerts are a great way to spend a summer night. They will also host the monthly Sac Song & Wine Series, featuring Nashville songwriters. Tickets for all events must be purchased in advance.
