Gina Werfel & Hearne Pardee: Fragments
Feb. 9 – Apr. 2
This exhibit highlights recent paintings, collages, and drawings of Gina Werfel and Hearne Pardee, who have recently retired from teaching at UC Davis after having spent more than 20 years teaching art, in addition to maintaining busy studio practices. Despite the differences between their respective work, they each approach their practice with the intent of layering or fragmenting multiple points of view or perspectives.
Christina Kent: Day to Night
Jan. 9 – Feb. 29
View a solo exhibit by Christina Kent, the recipient of the Pence’s Emerging Artist Award 2023. Kent expands upon her observations of everyday life in the city in a new series of oil paintings that capture intimate scenes of daily life. She builds these compositions with an eye to the subtle nuances of light and shadow, using gestural brushwork to reveal the changes in the landscape from morning until night.
Misuk Goltz: The World We Live In
Jan. 5 – Feb. 25
Misuk Goltz’s watercolor paintings convey a world seen through both her travels and daily life that is full of emotional resonance. Having used travel journals to record and expand upon her experiences around the world, she has a wealth of visual moments to share. This exhibit largely centers on her vignettes from these travels, alongside rural scenes from our region.
Visit the Pence and other venues in Downtown Davis for the 2nd Friday artwalk. We will have printed ArtAbout guides available that week. Follow the 2nd Friday ArtAbout Facebook page for more information: https://www.facebook.com/davisartabout.
