Our mothers do so much for us, so it’s fitting that they have a day all for themselves. Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate our moms and all they do. Spending the day with mom (or giving her a day all to herself) is a great way to show her how much you appreciate her. From brunches to wine tasting to spa days, following are ways to celebrate Mother’s Day in Yolo County.
Treating Mom to a brunch is one of the best ways to celebrate Mother’s Day. Many restaurants in Yolo County are offering special menus and bubbly along with their regular brunch or lunch menus. Seasons Kitchen and Bar in Davis will be hosting a special Mother’s Day brunch from 10 a.m.–2 p.m., with a fixed-price menu. Nearby Osteria Fasulo also has a special Mother’s Day fixed-price menu, featuring Italian-inspired dishes, dessert, and of course, a mimosa cocktail! In Winters, Preserve will be offering Sunday brunch, with dishes such as beef hash and a Finnish pancake. Franquette in West Sacramento is another good choice for Mother’s Day brunch; their French-inspired menu features quiche, galettes and pastries, not to mention a selection of French wines.
At Park Winters, mom can pick her own bouquet from their colorful flower fields. The seasonal fields include a wide selection of blossoms, including cosmos, marigolds, zinnias, dahlia, poppies, dianthus, sweet peas, snap dragons, ranunculus and more. Visitors will also have guidance on how to clip and gather the blooms.
Capay Valley Lavender is also hosting a special Mother’s Day event. Stroll through the lavender fields, enjoy the fresh country air and partake in an easy, family-friendly sachet craft. You can sample lavender scones in the morning and lavender brownies in the afternoon, and you can browse their gift shop anytime for that perfect lavender-themed gift.
It’s no secret that Yolo County has world-class wineries. Great Bear Vineyards in Davis is offering a special Mother’s Day package, which includes two glasses of sparkling wine, a charcuterie box and a mini rose bouquet. The Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg has a special pre-Mother’s Day event on Saturday, May 13, with wine tasting, live music and food trucks.
Berryessa Gap is celebrating mom with mimosas on both Saturday and Sunday at their downtown Winters tasting room. But it’s not just mimosas — it’s mimosas and donuts! Heringer Estates in Clarksburg is also offering mimosas, as well as wine, charcuterie and a beautiful flower bouquet, served in their lovely heritage barn overlooking the spring gardens. Afterwards, you can continue tasting and even sample chocolate truffles.
L’Apero Les Trois in Winters is another good bet for Mother’s Day. This year, they’re holding a special olive oil tasting. Crafted by local Bondolio Olive Oil, the tasting is a great opportunity to learn about different flavor profiles and how to incorporate oil into your favorite dishes. Tasting also includes a complimentary cocktail sample of L’Apero’s locally produced aperitifs.
Mom may need nothing more this Mother’s Day than to relax and unwind. Treat her to a day of pampering at one of many day spas in Yolo County. ZenTerra Spa, located in Hotel Winters, offers luxury massage packages and facials. In Davis, Zen Day Spa has hot stone massage and body scrubs. Maybe mom just needs a mani-pedi?
