The 101st annual Capay Valley Almond Festival celebrates the coming spring on Sunday February 28 this year. All up and down the valley, you’ll find festivities including music, arts & crafts exhibits and sales, a huge car show, wine and olive oil tastings, a much more.
The event runs from 8am to 5pm in six towns along Highway 16 in northwestern Yolo County.
Since its opening some four years ago, the Inn at Park Winters has set a very high standard for “simple country luxury” on the western reaches of Yolo County. An immaculate nine-plus acre property with stunning gardens, a handsome four-guestroom Victorian mansion, and a reputation for putting on the nicest weddings and special events in the region, Park Winters is a real jewel in the verdant countryside.
Last year, owners John Martin and Rafael Galiano completed construction of a new event barn (with a huge commercial kitchen in back) and surrounding patio area, designed to host groups of up to 300 people. Given the owners’ unshakable belief in the quality of Yolo County—including the county’s incredible bounty of fresh and ready agricultural goods—it only seemed natural to think about opening a restaurant.
That restaurant is now open. The jewel just got a whole lot shinier. more

Looking for an interesting way to spend your Friday night? Make your way to Historic Downtown Winters and stop by Turkovich Family Wines Tasting Room to try local handcrafted wines and cheese. Turkovich specializes in crafting exquisite Spanish and Rhone style wines with a tasting room featuring a rustic interior beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Sit at the wine bar, a table inside or at one of the cushioned couches outside and experience the small town ambiance. This wine tasting room is also home to the Winters Cheese Company which specializes in artisan cheese (try the Old Man or Habanero Jack during your visit). Stack’d & Brew’d, the delightful “sandwich shop and beer garden” on the southwest corner of 1st and Main Streets in historic downtown Woodland, is all about the sandwiches. You can get yours “Stack’d” or “Dipp’d” or “Press’d” off the extensive, mouth-watering menu or build your own creation from the extensive list of ingredients. Anyway you go—and you have a terrific selection of ways to go—it’s all good.
