The Sacramento River Train underwent a full remodel in preparation for expansion plans in 2016. Beginning in April the Sacramento River Train will be kicking off a new train schedule featuring consistently scheduled trains and a brand new adventure: The River Train Excursions. The newly added River Train Excursions will run twice weekly, allowing us to share the joy of railway travel with Sacramento locals and visitors alike. The new train schedule will also feature a Beer Train and Old Vine Express train each month. inside of train
America’s rich rail history has served as the road map for Sierra Railroads renovations to both the Sacramento River Train and the Oakdale-based Sierra Dinner Train. “We’ve enhanced the interior of the train cars, harkening back to the proud legacy of passenger rail travel – we’ve selected timeless fabrics, tin-inspired ceilings, and wood-inspired finishes,” says Rashael Parker, Chief Marketing Office. The Train’s entire exterior stock has been painted traditionally and the windows have been tinted for added comfort of passengers.
A local design firm in Davis aided the Sierra Railroad with the renovation to both of its valley operations. “We are excited to expand our repertoire to include passenger trains,” says Jennifer May, partner/principal of Lorain & May Design Associates. “We are drawn to the visceral sensory experience of train rides and the nostalgic throwback to when travel was both a luxurious and leisurely experience.”
