Visit the Pence Gallery to view a new exhibit upstairs featuring art by Michael Mikolon. As a resident of Northern California, Mikolon finds inspiration in the diverse landscapes and cultures that surround him. This collection of drawings delves into the intricate relationship between clothing, identity, and the stories they carry. Clothing is more than just a functional necessity; it is a means of self-expression, a reflection of culture, and a vessel of memories and experiences.
Garments is a visual exploration of the intimate connection between clothing and the individuals who wear them. Each drawing depicts an item of clothing suspended delicately from a hanger against a blank wall, inviting viewers to engage with the subtleties and complexities of each piece. Through the meticulous use of pastel and charcoal, the artist has endeavored to capture not only the texture and materiality of the garments but also the essence of the person who might have worn them.
