There’s no need to travel to the Bay to catch a Major League Baseball Game: The A’s are coming to Yolo County!
Formerly known as the Oakland A’s, the Athletics will be playing at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento enroute to their permanent home in Las Vegas in 2028. That means Sacramento-area baseball fans will get three years of Major League Baseball right in their own backyard.
The first home game of the 2026 season is March 27 against the Blue Jays, with games scheduled through September. They’ll be sharing the stadium with their host, the Sacramento River Cats Minor League Baseball team, which has its home opener in March.
Baseball is said to be the great American pastime, but not everyone has had a chance to experience a live game. For those who haven’t, or for those who haven’t yet attended a game at Sutter Health Park, we’ve created this handy guide that outlines everything you need to know about attending an A’s game.
When to Go to an A’s Game
You can check out the A’s schedule online or search for single game tickets. Most games are held in the evenings, at 7:05 p.m., but there are a few midday games, especially on weekends. The last game of the season is Sunday, Sept. 28. The A’s hosts promotions and special events throughout the season as well, where you can win free A’s swag such as T-shirts and bobbleheads. You can also enjoy post-game fireworks on select Friday and Saturday nights.
How to Get A’s Tickets
You can purchase single game tickets on the A’s website or at the Sutter Health Park ticket office. The ticket office is open Mon.–Fri. 10 a.m.–2 p.m. through March 27. After March 28, it will be open only on game days: 2 p.m. through the end of the sixth inning for evening games, and 10 a.m. through the end of the 6th inning for day games.
Ticket prices range from $25 for lawn tickets to several hundred for club and premium tickets. Games against fan-favorite teams such as the San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, and New York Yankees tend to be more expensive, as are weekend games. There are discounted tickets available for the military, first responders and students. Although season tickets for 2025 are sold out, you can get on a waiting list for 2026 season tickets. Some individual games are already sold out, but you can find resale tickets on SeatGeek, the official resale marketplace for MLB.
It’s also helpful to download the MLB Ballpark app, where you can manage digital tickets, view schedules, and see interactive ballpark maps.

What to Eat
Sutter Health Park has a wide variety of concessions to choose from. You’ll find all the typical favorites, including hot dogs, tacos, pizza and tri-tip sandwiches. There’s nothing like a cold beer when watching a ballgame, and there are plenty of varieties on offer, including many local and regional craft brews.
It should be noted that Sutter Health Park is a cashless facility, meaning only credit cards and debit cards are accepted for concessions.
If you’re planning on making a day of your visit to West Sacramento for an A’s game, consider trying one of many restaurants near Sutter Health Park. Some to consider include Drake’s at the Barn, an expansive brewery that offers pizza and burgers, or Franquette, a quaint wine bar and bistro specializing in French bites. Or, head to Bike Dog Brewing Company, a family-friendly craft brewery that also has food trucks onsite most days of the week.
Fun Facts About the A’s
A’s vs. Athletics. Technically, the “official” new name of the team formerly known as the Oakland Athletics (or Oakland A’s) is just the Athletics. Not the West Sacramento Athletics nor the Sacramento Athletics. Presumably, after the move to Las Vegas they will be renamed again. Regardless, they are commonly referred to as the A’s, as indicated by their logo. And for the record, A’s is grammatically correct; the apostrophe is needed to distinguish it from the word “As.”
Mascot. The mascot of the Athletics is Stomper, a friendly elephant decked out in his signature green and gold. The elephant mascot goes back to the early 1900s, with different iterations throughout the decades.
Nicknames. The Athletics have had several different nicknames throughout the course of their 120-plus year history, including the Swingin’ A’s, the Green Elephants, and the Green and Gold.
History. The A’s were founded in 1901 as the Philadelphia Athletics baseball club. In 1955, the team left for Kansas City, Missouri before their move to Oakland in 1968.
World Series. The A’s have won the World Series nine times: in 1910, 1911, 1913, 1929, 1930, 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1989. They’ve also won 15 American League pennants and 17 West Division titles.
